คำอธิบายหลักสูตร:

This program combines core counseling education and training, the theories and techniques of Alfred Adler, and education and clinical training in the field of art therapy. This program was approved in 1999 by the American Art Therapy Association and the State of Illinois. The program requires 61 credit hours in coursework including 700 hours of art therapy practicum. The art therapy program can be completed in two years with a full time course load over three terms for each of the two years.

Applicants must have an undergraduate/baccalaureate degree or the equivalent from an accredited institution with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all undergraduate and graduate course work. These courses need to include general or introductory psychology, abnormal psychology, theories of personality, and psychometrics or research methods. In addition, a course in lifespan development or child & adolescent development is required to meet AATA education standards. Eighteen (18) semester credit hours, or 27 quarter hour credits in studio art that demonstrates proficiency and disciplined commitment to visual art in three or more visual art media, and a portfolio of original art work (15 examples in three or more different media) demonstrating competence with art materials is required to be presented at the admissions interview. Applicants who have taken the paper-based TOEFL must receive a minimum score of 550. Those who have taken the computer-based TOEFL must have a minimum score of 213.

Application forms can be completed online or mailed to the Office of Admissions. The Application fee is $50 (non refundable) Transcripts should be sent directly to the Office of Admissions. Official transcripts from each undergraduate and graduate school attended along with three letters of recommendation, recommendation forms and Resume or curriculum vitae are needed. Proof of English proficiency and Proof of financial support are also required to be sent to the Admissions Office, Chicago Campus, 65 East Wacker Place, Suite 2100, Chicago, IL 60601-7298.
